Togo is a receiving country, supplier and of transit of the victims.
One notes two major aspects of the draft in Togo:
internal draft, mainly of the villages stripped towards the urban centres or the fertile agricultural zones, in particular towards the Lome capital;
transborder draft, in particular towards Nigeria, Gabon, the Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Niger, the Benign one or Ghana. |
Transborder draft: The Togolese children are generally found in the frontier countries (Benign, Ghana, Burkina Faso) and of the countries where the need for not very expensive labour is largest: the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Niger.
For more traditional reasons, rather related on old flows of migration and the strong representation of the Togolese families in the country, Gabon also receives many Togolese children who are often exploited as domestic workers. |
